Don't Just Sit There

Homeschooling can be a challenge, especially when your child doesn't enjoy sitting still for long periods of time. Here are some tips that may help:

Incorporate movement into lessons: Children are naturally active, so try to incorporate movement into your lessons. For example, you can do physical activities related to the subject, like acting out a science experiment or having them draw a map while standing up.

Set up a flexible learning environment: Consider setting up a space that allows for movement, like a rug or beanbag chairs. This can help your child feel more comfortable and relaxed during lessons.

Use technology: There are many educational apps and websites that offer interactive and engaging lessons. This can help hold your child's attention and keep them active.

Give breaks: It's important to give your child breaks throughout the day to stretch, run, and play. This can help them recharge and refocus during lessons.

Encourage physical activity: Encourage your child to engage in physical activity outside of lessons. This can help them burn off excess energy and improve focus.

Be flexible: Homeschooling doesn't have to follow a strict schedule or be completed in one sitting. If your child needs to take a break or switch to a different subject, be flexible and adjust accordingly.

Praise their effort: Finally, be sure to praise your child for their effort and encourage them to keep trying, even if they struggle with sitting still.

Remember, every child is different, and what works for one may not work for another. The key is to be patient, flexible, and understanding. Good luck!
